Design and pattern making
If you cannot find a particular piece that you are looking for we can help with design or alternatively we can work from a photograph or drawing. Once we have a working drawing we will then carve the patterns from English lime, a superior wood for patterns due to it's ability to carry crisp detail. From these patterns silicon moulds are taken with which we inject wax into and so starts the lost wax process.
Lost wax casting
This process is used for it's excellent detail and complexity reproduction. If you have a component missing or need a piece reproducing this is a suitable process to use.
Green sand casting
We use this casting method for pieces that do not require great detail for which we would use the above process.
Glass bending and etching
We bend glass and form glass sheet for the glazing in our lights and also fine grit blast detailed designs onto their surfaces.
Spring making
From special carbon steels we create springs for our letterplates, bell presses and butlers bells etc.
Woodturning
We turn in a variety of timbers for patterns and also decorative embellishments for our castings.
